Despite having only one Super Bowl win in four appearances, the Los Angeles Rams are one of the oldest and most historic franchises in the NFL. With more than one Hall of Fame and All Valuables on the team, it’s hard to reduce the top ranking of Los Angeles to five players.

1. Jack Youngblood, DE

Youngblood snuck into fifth place, narrowly overtaking the group of superstar Rams players.

The dominant defensive finish joined the Rams as the 20th overall pick in the 1971 NFL Draft. As a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame First Division Team during the 1970s, Youngblood spent the whole thing. his 14-year career for the team, retiring after the 1984 season.

Sacks didn’t become an official statistic until 1982. By then, Youngblood was in the twilight of his career. He has unofficially registered 151.5 sacks over the course of his career, ranking fifth in total known sacks.

A fierce competitor, Youngblood attended seven Pro Bowls and won five all-expert first-team picks. He also became famous for playing three 1979 Los Angeles playoffs and the Pro Bowl with a broken leg.

Although he currently holds the 5th place, Youngblood will probably cede his spot to Aaron Donald in a few years. The former two-time best defensive player has a contract with five more seasons.

2. Kurt Warner, QB

Unlike Youngblood, Warner spent a very short time with the Rams. However, he has accomplished a lot with the franchise and is considered by many as one of the top 20 midfielders of all time.

Warner famously replaced when Trent Green suffered a season-ending injury during the pre-season. Warner went from packing groceries, playing in the Arena Football League and working in NFL Europe to one of the most electric offences in 1999.

During the 1999 season, the attack on The Greatest Show on Turf led the Rams to their first Super Bowl victory. Warner won the league’s MVP that season, a feat he repeated in 2001. By 2002, however, Warner’s heyday with the Rams was over. He appeared in nine games for the franchise between 2002 and 2003 before the franchise released him.

3. Marshall Faulk, RB

The Rams acquired Faulk from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for second and fifth options in 1999. The move paid a dividend. In seven seasons with the Rams, Faulk made four Pro Bowls and won three All-Pro picks for Team One.

Faulk played a core role in The Greatest Show on Turf. That year, Faulk became the second athlete in NFL history to hit the javelin and receive more than 1,000 yards in a single season.

Faulk was in tears from 1999 to 2001, winning Attacker of the Year three times in a row. He, along with Earl Campbell, is one of only two players to have received the award three times.

Faulk retired with 11,030 yards from the script and a total of 85 touchdowns as a Ram.

4. Merlin Olsen, DT

Olsen joined the Rams as a third overall pick in the 1962 NFL Draft. A year later, Los Angeles acquired defensive player Rosey Grier from the New York Giants, forming the dreaded Quartet.

The Foursome Foursome existed as one of the greatest defenses in NFL history in the 1960s and ’70s. Olsen lived at the heart of the dominant unit, winning 14 Pro Bowl picks. He was also on the Professional Football Team of the Hall of Fame for all of the 1960s and the Second Team of all of the 1970s.

After 15 years with the Rams and missing just two games, Olsen retired after the 1976 season. He won five All-Stars First Team selections and was unofficially credited with 94 bags.

5. Deacon Jones, DE

When NFL Network aired Top 100: NFL’s Greatest Players in 2010, Jones was 15th while his teammate Olsen was 27th. They were the two Rams who appeared on the show. A decade later, they are still recognized as the best players in franchise history.

Among the many accomplishments in his 13-year career, Jones promoted using the term “sack” when defenders dropped out of midfield. He made seven Pro Bowls with the Rams and won five First Team All-Pro picks.

A defensive clearance, Jones earned Pro Football Hall the title of All 1960s Team Honorable Men. Originally a 14th round pick for Los Angeles in 1961, Jones is also one of the greatest draft steals of all time.

Sacks were not officially recorded in Jones’ era, but professional football historian John Turney, claims a 6-5 defensive finish had amassed 173.5 (159.5 with the Rams) in his career. me. Jones has also unofficially recorded more than 20 sacks over three separate seasons, which would be an NFL record.
